Assam Government to provide nearly 22000 free scooties under “Pragyan Bharti ” Scheme. 25% seats to be reserved in Government colleges exclusively for state board students.
Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, “As part of the Pragyan Bharati scheme announced in this year’s budget, over 22000 scooties will be provided to the girl students who secured first division in the class 12 board exams under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council.
The budget for each vehicle has been fixed to Rs. 50000 to 55000/- and the distribution will be done by October 2020. Students will have an option to apply for electric scooty also, for which the cost of registration will be borne by them and the beneficiaries will not be able to sell their vehicles for next three years, he added.
The minister further informed, that the government colleges of the state have been directed to increase the seat capacity and to keep at least 25 percent seats reserved exclusively for state board passed students.
Mr. Sarma further added, that Provincialistion of the school and colleges is started and over 3980 teachers jobs will be regularized, since a total of 3,049 teachers’ posts under the directorate of secondary education and 931 posts under the directorate of higher education have also been provincialised today.”
