The Union Education Minister, DR. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurates hostels for boys and girls of Mizoram University.
The Union Education Minister, DR. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on 26th August 2020, inaugurated two hostels of the Mizoram University called ‘Thorang Hall of Residence” for Boys and “Zamzo Hall of Residence” for Girls through video conferencing.
The Minister in his speech, commended the achievement of Mirozam University for securing 67th position in All India NIRF 2020 rankings by adding that the university is amongst one of the top institutions in the Himalayan region and has made considerable progress in terms of academics, infrastructure and work. He further addressed the aspects of the National Educaton Policy 2020 and emphasised on the importance of conserving the rich ecological features of Mizoram.
Prof. K.R.S. Sambasiva Rao, Vice Chancellor, Mizoram University on thanking Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal, further stated that the new hostels will serve the shortage of housing for the students coming to the campus for their education from remote areas of the region and other parts of the country.
Each hostel has a capacity of 100 students and the amenities include kitchen, dining hall and common room, double bedded hostel rooms, elecrical fittings and furniture.
